Santa Pola is only 18km from Alicante and the fishing port has always enjoyed an excellent reputation, thanks to the magnificent prawns and red mullet which are brought in by the fishing boats. This is probably the best town to sample fresh fish in wide selection of good restaurants. The town has several wonderful beaches, including over 4km of fine sand & crystalline water. At the Playa Lisa beach you can walk out to sea for kilometres and the water only reaches knee-height.

This is an unquestionably attractive coastal landscape for tourists, and the bathing season starts in spring and lasts until autumn. But one must not forget the environmental uniqueness of this area, where great expanses of beach combine with spectacular rolling dunes where conditions are ripe for the appearance of really unique types of flora and fauna. The village has a range of shops, bars, banks etc. and has a regular bus service north and south along the coast.
